In February the Seneca River runs black between white banks, and the dam below the village bridge steams in the cold long before the sun is anywhere near up. Ringler Snow Plowing works those hours in Baldwinsville — plowing driveways and parking areas, clearing walkways and steps, spreading salt and sand where the overnight freeze takes hold. Lake-effect bands off Ontario can drop a foot on the village and leave the next town over bone dry, so winter here gets measured storm by storm rather than by the calendar. Coming home to a driveway that's already open is the entire point of the exercise. Everything else is just noise and headlights.
