The run between Avon, Caledonia and Geneseo is twenty-odd minutes of open valley, and in December it is the first ground to drift and the last to clear. R&R Enterprises is out on it before daylight — plowing driveways and lots, opening walkways, keeping entrances passable while the wind keeps refilling them. In the green months those same three villages get mowing, trimming, edging and seasonal cleanups on a route that ties them together. Two seasons, one map: the hills above Geneseo, the creek country around Caledonia, the river flats at Avon. Getting somebody out of their own driveway on a bad morning is a small thing that never once feels small.
