Early June on Auburn's west-end blocks, dew still heavy, houses set close together and back yards running one into the next behind them. Sweeney Brothers Landscaping mows that kind of ground — tight gates, narrow side yards, a dozen small lots in a morning — and keeps every one of them level from fence to fence. Trimming does much of the work here, since half of a city property is edges: around the stoop, the meter, the clothesline post, the maple in the corner. Add a clean line where grass meets sidewalk and a cleanup at both ends of the season, and a small lot looks as considered as an acre. It is close work, and it holds up all week.
