Big Sisters Creek comes down through Angola brown and quick in April, and the yards along it wake up muddy, matted and ready for hands. That first pass of the season is McMillans Landscaping of WNY's favorite kind of work: winter debris raked out, beds re-cut and mulched, the lawn mowed low and even until the shape of the property comes back. Through the summer it's steady mowing, trimming and edging on a weekly rhythm, and in November the leaves come down all at once and the raking starts over. Western New York gives a short green season, and this crew spends all of it outdoors. What they're after is simple — a yard that looks like somebody is paying attention.
