From the terraces above Menands the Hudson lies out flat and silver, and the ridge catches wind the flats below never feel. Lawn care up there means mowing slopes with care, edging where turf meets an old stone wall, trimming, mulching, seeding and clearing leaves off ground that drains straight downhill. Winter turns those same grades into the very reason snow removal exists — plow the drive, shovel the walk, salt the pitch so nobody takes it sideways on the way to the car. Anything on a hillside is twice the work and shows twice as plainly once it's finished. The properties along that ridge look their finest in the hour right after the truck leaves.
