Early June, and the dew out at Six Mile Waterworks refuses to burn off until well after eight. Lawn care runs on that clock — start when the grass is dry enough to take a clean cut, then work the route while the morning is still cool. The list is mowing, edging along walks and drives, trimming around trees and posts, cleanups in spring and fall, seed and feeding wherever the turf has gone thin. The ground near Rensselaer Lake is sandy and drains fast, so lawns out that way want different handling than the heavier soil across town. What a good week produces is easy to describe and hard to fake: even color, straight lines, and nothing left behind on the sidewalk.
