The Normanskill cuts a wooded ravine along the southern edge of the city, and on cool mornings the fog sits down in it until the sun finally clears the treeline. Lawn care up on the flats above — toward Slingerlands, out along Krumkill Road — means mowing, edging, trimming and seasonal cleanups on properties where the turf runs right up to the woods. Winter turns those same driveways into a plow route, with walks shoveled and salt laid where the grade makes ice a genuine problem. Storms around here tend to arrive overnight, so the clearing does too, in the dark and mostly unwitnessed. Coming home at midday to a drive already opened is a small and particular relief, and delivering it is the whole job.
