By the middle of October the maples along Manning Boulevard give up all at once, and the lawns beneath them vanish under color. Leaf removal becomes a season of its own here — rake, blow, gather, haul, then do it again after the next windy night, until the grass can breathe going into the cold. Ahead of that comes the summer rhythm: mowing, edging, string trimming, hedges shaped, beds mulched, seed put down wherever shade thinned things out. Over toward Tivoli the ground stays damp and grows on its own schedule, so the cutting adapts to the block it's on. What's left standing in November is a lawn that looks ready for whatever winter has planned.
