2 Chicks And A Rake

About 2 Chicks And A Rake

In late October the cottonwoods around Oats Park let go all at once, and the ditchbanks fill with gold that wants moving. That is the hour this Fallon lawn care outfit likes best — rakes working in long steady strokes, leaves and clippings lifted off the grass before the first hard frost pins them down. Through the mowing months they keep a straight line along the walk and the drive, the kind you can read from the street. Weeds get treated before they set seed, and the turf gets fed so it comes back thick when the ground warms again. There is a plain pleasure in handing a yard back combed open and quiet, ready for the cold.
