Tularosa was laid out along its ditches, and the water still runs under cottonwoods out to the orchards while the Sacramento Mountains hold the last light on the east side of the valley. Dream Team Landscapes Alamogordo works the village on that old rhythm — mowing through the long warm season, edging along ditch banks and walks, trimming shrubs, pulling weeds, and clearing the yard when the leaves come down. West of town the dunes throw the afternoon glare back at everything, which makes the shade of a kept yard the place everybody drifts to by four o'clock. Grass grows here nearly all year, so the mower rarely gets a long rest. A lawn cut level, with a sharp line along the ditch, looks like a village well looked after.
