About High Plains Property Watch

October in Quay County turns the grass the color of old brass, and the gravel roads out of Tucumcari run straight until they fall away off the caprock. High Plains Property Watch mows and trims the yards of places whose people are not there to do it — a last cut before the cold, a clean border along the drive, the trimmer run around every post and meter. There is a particular pleasure in pulling up to a shaggy lot and leaving it squared away, cuttings cleared and the walk swept behind you. Nobody is standing there to watch, which is exactly why it gets done right. Come the next visit, the place looks like somebody has been keeping it, because somebody has.
