About Ziascape

Winter down the valley belongs to the cranes — thousands of them coming off the refuge fields at first light, and the whole basin gone silver and straw-colored beneath them. Lawns rest in that stretch, and Ziascape uses it for the patient work: clearing leaves and dead growth, cutting borders back to a clean line, and tidying the gravel and bed margins so the yard holds its shape until spring. When the grass wakes up, the mowing schedule starts again, with edging along the walks and trimming close around trees, posts and walls. Every visit ends the same way, with the clippings raked up and the concrete swept off. A yard kept this way looks composed in every month of the Socorro year, green or not.
