About Views Landscapes of Distinction

Late in the day the light here goes long and copper, and the ridge below Museum Hill turns the color of a struck match. Views Landscapes of Distinction likes to finish in that hour, when a fresh-mown lawn is still holding its stripes and every edge throws a thin shadow of its own. The work behind it is plain enough — steady mowing, string trimming, edging along flagstone and driveway, feeding and weeding the turf so it can stand up to the altitude and the sun. High-desert grass earns its color, and a yard that holds onto it reads from the road as an act of attention. Around here, where the view usually belongs to the mountains, it feels good to make the foreground worth looking at too.
