Santa Fe's wind arrives in March and treats every yard like an inbox — tumbleweed out of the arroyo, somebody's shade cloth, half the elm seeds in the county. Trash Pandas shows up after it, which is the least glamorous and most useful hour in lawn care: hauling out the winter litter, cutting back what died, opening the grass to light again. Then the ordinary rhythm begins — mowing on a schedule, trimming along fences and portal posts, running an edge down the walk so the gravel stays on its own side. The name is a joke; the work is not, and by late May the yards they keep look deliberate instead of accidental. Anyone who has watched a spring blow through this town knows that difference takes somebody actually showing up.
