When the snowpack finally lets go in late spring the Santa Fe River actually runs, and for a few weeks the willows below Patrick Smith Park are loud with it. Living Water Irrigation & Landscape works those blocks and the rest of the city, cutting, trimming and edging lawns and clearing away what winter piled up. Water is the whole story of green grass in northern New Mexico, and the mowing side of it — the right height, thatch and litter kept off the crown — is what lets a lawn make use of every drop it gets. They keep that end tight. The result is turf that holds its color deep into the hot weeks without asking for more than it needs.
