About Gonzales Maintenance-Landscaping

Late August, the road north toward Pojoaque and Nambé runs between walls of wild sunflowers taller than a truck door. Gonzales Maintenance-Landscaping works lawns on that end of the county and through Santa Fe proper — mowing on a steady turn, trimming, edging, and clearing the growth the summer rains bring on fast. Everything grows at once during these weeks and then quits altogether, so keeping up is mostly a matter of showing up. They show up. A lawn cut even and clean under that late-summer light has a settled kind of beauty, and it is the whole reason for the trip.
