Franco's Trees & Landscpng

About Franco's Trees & Landscpng

Guadalupe Street loses its canopy over about one week in late October, and by afternoon the light coming through what is left of the old elms and cottonwoods turns the whole block amber. Franco's Trees & Landscpng works under those canopies near the Railyard — the last mowings of the year, leaves raked and hauled out by the truckload, shrubs and low limbs trimmed back off walks and drives, the lawn's outline recut where the fall had buried it. Leaf work is unglamorous and it is the whole difference between turf that wakes up in spring and turf that comes back matted and thin. There is a particular pleasure in the moment a yard goes from ankle-deep to swept. The trees keep letting go; the work keeps coming back until they are finished.
