About Terra Firma Landscape Design & Construction

There is a certain winter afternoon in Roswell when the sun comes low across the buff-colored walls of the Military Institute and every shadow in town takes a hard edge — a good hour for standing in a bare yard and seeing what it could become. Terra Firma Landscape Design & Construction starts right there: a plan first, then the building of it — beds shaped, walkways set, gravel and stone laid, turf placed where it will actually be walked on and looked at. On this ground a design has to answer to wind, alkaline soil and about a dozen inches of rain a year, so restraint is a tool rather than a compromise. They maintain what they build too, mowing and trimming and keeping the lines they drew from going soft. The pleasure is in the second look, once the thing has grown into the drawing.
