About Urban Bears LLC

In late summer the storms build south of Kirtland and slide up the valley, and for an hour the whole place smells like wet sage and warm asphalt. Urban Bears LLC reads that sky the way everyone here does — get the mowing finished, get the trimming done, then watch the rain darken the gravel. Their work runs through the neighborhoods between the highway and the Hogback: grass cut clean, weeds taken back from block walls, clippings hauled off instead of left to bleach in the sun. When the clouds break at evening, the Shiprock stands sharp on the western horizon and the yards below it look tended, which is the entire point. A mowed lawn is a small thing. It still changes how a house greets you.
