Preslar's Dirt Works

About Preslar's Dirt Works

From the rim at Cloudcroft the land drops away more than four thousand feet to the Tularosa Basin, where the gypsum dunes of White Sands lie like a strip of daylight left on the floor. Up on the mountain the ground is another matter, dark forest soil threaded with rock and roots, and Preslar's Dirt Works makes its living shaping it. They move and grade earth for yards and lawns, sending spring melt where it ought to go and readying ground so grass can take hold. When the snowpack lets go, a well-graded lot is the difference between a lawn and a mudslide. There is honest satisfaction in a yard that drains clean and greens up evenly, with that long blue view opening to the west.
