Lawn & Tree

About Lawn & Tree

Shade is worth something at four thousand feet, and the mulberries and pines standing over Chaparral yards were planted by people who understood that. Lawn & Tree keeps both halves of the bargain — turf mown and edged clean, hedges and shrubs shaped, the sheltering rows along a lot line kept neat instead of shaggy. Everything cut gets gathered and hauled, and what remains is a lawn with good light falling on it and a clear line where the grass ends. Wind moves through a well-kept hedgerow differently in the afternoon; you can hear the difference from the porch. On a hot day it is a fine thing to stand in.
