ABQ Turf

About ABQ Turf

On October mornings in Albuquerque, hundreds of hot-air balloons lift off into the cold blue air, and below them the city's yards are just catching the first gold light. ABQ Turf tends lawns in this high-desert city, where growing grass at roughly a mile up is a deliberate act. The air is thin and dry, the sun is fierce by June, and healthy turf here takes patience and good timing through the whole growing year. A lawn that stays soft underfoot in a city ringed by mesa and sand is its own small marvel, mown even and finished sharply at the curb. From a balloon basket the neighborhoods spread out like a patchwork quilt, and a well-tended lawn is one of its bright green squares.
