There are two versions of a Woodcliff Lake morning. In one it is January, the driveways are long and curved and full of snow, and Walters Landscapers is out ahead of the first commuter — plowing, shoveling walks and steps, laying salt where shade off the trees keeps the ice stubborn. In the other it is June, the same properties in full leaf, and the work is mowing, trimming and edging on a weekly turn, with the beds cleared at either end of the growing season. This is a town of wooded lots and quiet lanes, so both jobs come down to care around what is already there. Either morning, the measure is identical: the owner walks out and everything is simply done.
