About Cheap Trees LLC

Out where the pines thin toward the Black Horse Pike, snow comes down without much noise — the sand plain swallows sound, and by four in the morning Williamstown is one long white margin. Cheap Trees LLC works that margin: blade down, driveways opened end to end, walkways shoveled clean to the concrete before the coffee goes cold. Salt goes where the shade holds ice longest, at the foot of a slope and along the north side of a garage. The reward is small and exact — a driveway apron cut square, tire tracks that go out and don't come back for a tow. When the storm quits and the light comes up gray-blue over the oaks, the street looks like somebody was awake for it. Somebody was.
