Late August in Wharton: the maples over the side streets go heavy and still, and the grass wants cutting on a shorter clock than anyone expects. J. Gorski Landscape keeps to that clock — weekly mowing, trimming around fence posts and mailbox stones, beds mulched, hedges squared. Come October the same route runs in reverse, blowing leaves off lawns that took all summer to keep even. Spring finds those lawns earliest, raking the winter sand out and waking the beds back up. The best of it is a small thing: grass that looks tended without ever looking fussed over, week after week, straight through to frost.
