On a June evening the light comes down Main Avenue sideways and every strip of Wallington grass turns brighter than it has any right to be. Tiger Pops Lawn Maintenance is out in it, cutting the small square lawns between driveways, trimming the alley edges, running a clean border where concrete meets turf. The borough's lots are tight, so the work is patient and detailed — no room for a wide sweep, plenty of room for getting it exactly right. Through the season it's weekly mowing; at either end of it, the cleanups that clear the beds and haul off what the street trees let fall. A block of well-cut yards in an old mill-town borough is a genuinely good sight.
