Landis Avenue is wide enough to feel like a runway when a storm finally quits, and MTZ Landscaping LLC is out on the roads before the streetlights give up. Vineland snow rarely announces itself politely — it arrives on a wet, heavy wind and sets up hard by morning — so plowing here is a night trade, driveway by driveway, walk by walk. Salt goes down where the melt will run and refreeze: the shaded north side of a house, the lip of a sloped drive, the two steps nobody thinks about until they're glass. There is real satisfaction in a clean apron of blacktop at six in the morning, the pile squared off in a corner where it won't block a sightline. By the time the city wakes up and puts a car in reverse, the work is already behind it.
