About Manny's Lawns, LLC

A June thunderstorm can drop an inch on Sherman Avenue and be forgotten by lunch — Vineland's sandy loam takes water the way a sponge takes it, which is why the grass here greens fast and dries faster. Manny's Lawns, LLC works that rhythm, cutting when the blades stand up and letting the turf set the height instead of the calendar. The pleasure of the job is small and exact: one clean stripe laid the length of a yard, trimmer line snapped tight along a fence post, every clipping blown off the walk before the truck pulls away. Autumn brings the other half of it, leaves lifted off the beds and the lawn put down flat before the cold. It is ordinary work done carefully, on streets where a well-kept yard still means something.
