Vineland holds more farmland inside its own city limits than most towns hold anywhere, and out toward Almond Road the lawns take on some of that scale. The soil here dries fast after a storm, which means the mowing can happen on the day it was promised. Come autumn the leaves arrive all at once and the cleanups begin. A big lawn cut properly reads as calm from the road, and that is the point of it.
