From Beesleys Point the water opens wide and Atlantic County begins on the far shore, which is more or less how Super Lawns of Cape May and Atlantic County reads its map: bay in the middle, work on both sides of it. April starts everything — the season's first clearing, the opening mow on ground that spent all winter under salt wind, beds recut, mulch down while the soil is still cool. Then come the long green months of mowing and trimming on a set rotation, weeds handled before they can spread, hedges kept in shape. Evenings out this way finish with the sun going down over Great Egg Harbor Bay while the lawns hold their color a little longer than the sky does. A yard cut clean at the end of a shore day is a small and complete thing.
