The Upper Montclair station platform starts filling a little before seven, and by then Spina's Landscaping has already been at it two streets over. Summer mornings here open cool and end sticky, so the cutting goes early — decks raised through the July heat, close trimming along fences and flagstone, walks blown clean before the block is fully awake. Beds get edged and mulched while the ground is still cool in spring, hedges get shaped whenever they push, leaves get handled once the maples turn. Yards in this part of town sit close to the sidewalk under big trees, where everybody notices them. Coming home at six to a lawn that was cut before you ever left is a small, quietly good thing.
