By late October the yards between Tuckerton and West Creek have slowed down, and the work changes character. Hendricks lawn and landscape LLC takes the last cuts a little lower, hauls the leaf piles off before the rain packs them into the turf, and squares up hedge lines that went loose over a wet summer. There is a plainness to autumn work that is satisfying — nothing decorative about it, just a property put in order before the wind swings north. Beds cleaned out, the lawn left even, everything set up to come back right. It is the kind of finish you notice most in March.
