The first warm week of March finds the Wilbur section still brown, gutters full of last year's leaves, and every corner lot waiting for someone to make the first move. Willys Landscaping treats that week as the opening of the year, raking out the winter debris, clearing the beds and alley edges, then putting a first cut on grass that has not seen a blade since fall. From there the season settles into mowing and trimming, hedges kept in line, borders redefined with fresh mulch when the beds need it. Autumn runs the film backward, leaves off the turf and out of the fence corners before the cold sets them in place. A Trenton yard that gets started early in spring stays ahead of itself all the way to November.
