Before the beach traffic arrives on a July morning, Stone Harbor belongs to the herons lifting out of the bird sanctuary and the salt breeze moving across Seven Mile Island. Andrew's Landscaping works in those early hours, while the shore-house lawns are still cool and silver with dew. Island grass grows in sandy ground and lives with wind and salt, so it rewards a careful mowing height and clean, regular trimming. By the time families head down 96th Street toward the sand, the yards are cut, edged and swept, ready for a long summer day. It is a small kind of pride: a shore house that looks as good as the beach beside it.
