About ASPM

Sussex County keeps a winter of its own. The hills above Route 206 hold snow long after the coastal roads have gone black, and a storm that only dusts the shore can bury Stanhope to the fence rails. ASPM runs through those nights, plowing driveways and lots, clearing walks and steps, and spreading salt on the pitched approaches where a car would otherwise slide back down to the street. Three in the morning on a hillside road is a strange and lovely place to be at work — the Musconetcong somewhere below in the dark, headlights swinging across bare oak trunks. When the valley finally wakes up, the pavement is open, and nobody has to think about it. That is the entire ambition.
