After Labor Day, Spring Lake goes quiet, and by January the wind comes off the Atlantic with nothing standing in its way. Alphas - Pavers & Design works those cold hours, plowing driveways and lots along the avenues and salting the walks before the first storm door opens. A nor'easter here arrives wet and heavy, packing itself against privet hedges and porch steps, so the job is an early start and a second pass once it finally lets up. There is a real satisfaction in a driveway cut clean down to the blacktop while the ocean is still nothing but a sound in the dark. Storm by storm, the aim stays plain: open, sanded, passable by morning.
