Heron's Tree Service

About Heron's Tree Service

Where the Cedar Brook slips past South Plainfield toward the low wet ground of the Dismal Swamp, the old silver maples lean out over the water and shed limbs whenever they please. Heron's Tree Service works those backyards near Spring Lake Park and the flat streets running out toward the Hadley plain, taking down what has gone hollow and shaping what still has good years left in it. A pruning cut made in the right place in March becomes a crown that carries the July heat without splitting. When a storm slides down off the Watchungs and lays a limb across a driveway, the crew arrives with saws and rakes, and the blacktop is bare again before the trash truck rounds the corner. What they like most is the last look back: the yard swept, the wood stacked, the sky opened up a little over the roofline.
