Where the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook runs down to meet the Saddle River, the ground holds its cold well into spring and its water well into summer. Naumov Landscaping works that damp Ridgewood ground on both sides of the calendar — mowing, trimming and edging through the green months, then plowing drives, clearing walks and salting once storms start arriving out of the northwest. Leaves come off the low ground in autumn before they can mat and sour the turf; mulch goes into the beds when the soil dries in May. A property here changes character four times a year and needs a plan for each one. What stays constant is how it looks from the street on the day the work is done.
