About Frontier Tree Company, Inc.

North of town the ground climbs toward the Navesink highlands, and November wind crosses it with nothing much in the way. Frontier Tree Company, Inc. spends that month on the ground work — leaves off the turf before they pack down and sour it, beds cleared out, the last cut of the season taken, edges cut back sharp so the line survives until March. There is something plainly good about a yard put to bed properly: bare, tidy, the grass visible again, ready for whatever arrives from the northeast. The crew works until the light quits, which by then is early. Come spring, those lawns wake up ahead of the ones left buried.
