September is Point Pleasant's reward — warm ground, cool nights, the ocean still holding onto summer and the crowds already gone home. It is the strongest month there is for turf, and Scott's Lawn Care spends it feeding, overseeding and cutting a little higher so the roots reach down before the cold arrives. Sandy soil here drains away almost before you have finished watering, so what the grass gets is what the grass keeps. Mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups fill in the rest of the calendar on either side. A lawn built in September is the one still standing up to next August.
