Salem County lawns run wide and flat, and in the middle of July they take the sun full on with nothing to break it. MEAN GREEN MOWING cuts them in long straight passes — mowing, edging along the drive and the walk, trimming the fence lines and the mailbox post where a deck can't fit. Cleanups handle the rest of it, the winter litter in March and the leaf in November. On big open ground the mowing lines show from the road, and getting them true is a small standing point of pride. So is the smell of cut grass on a hot Penns Grove afternoon, which never really stops being good.
