Mount Tabor's lanes were laid out narrow a long time ago and never widened, and the cottages still crowd the hill shoulder to shoulder. Dan Russ Landscaping works that hillside in October, when the maples let go all at once and the porches go under a foot of leaf. The work is raking and hauling until the lawn shows green again, beds cut back, edges redrawn where the grass had crept over the walk. Winter turns those same tight turns into a plowing puzzle, taken slow, blade angled to keep the snow off the neighbor's side. Mowing starts again in April, and the whole round comes back around.
