About Almstead Tree & Shrub Care Company

North Haledon sits up on the first Watchung ridge, where oak and hickory throw long afternoon shade and every lawn has to make its peace with the canopy above it. Almstead Tree & Shrub Care Company tends that grass — mowing, trimming, feeding and overseeding the thin places where light only reaches for part of the day. Half the craft here is patience: a shaded slope greens in its own time, and the aim is an even, honest lawn rather than a hurried one. By June the mown ground under those big trees holds the coolest air in the borough, and somebody stands in it at the end of a workday not thinking about the work at all. That is the whole point of it.
