Farrington Lake holds the last of the fall color longer than the streets do, and once that goes, North Brunswick Township starts watching the sky. Broehl's Lawn takes yards from one end of the year to the other — mowing and trimming through the green months, edging the walks, hauling off the leaves once the oaks finally let go. Then the plow goes on: driveways cleared, walkways shoveled, salt down on the slick spots before daylight. Much of this township used to be fields, and the lots still run long and open, which means wind, drifting, and grass that grows like it remembers farming. Both halves of the work come down to showing up on the right morning.
