Up at Newark's northern edge the Second River slips quietly toward Belleville, and the lawns along those streets green up a good week ahead of the rest of the city. JG Landscape opens the season there in late April — the first cut, the winter debris hauled away, the beds trimmed back, the walk edges reopened after months of grit and salt. Everything looks rough before it looks good; that first pass is the ugly, necessary one nobody photographs. After that it settles into rhythm — mow, trim, edge, clear, repeat, right through October. By June those yards look like they were never left alone at all.
