About A & J Landscaping

Forest Hill wakes slowly in June, the big porches still in shade while the lawns out front catch the first flat light coming up Mount Prospect Avenue. That's the hour A & J Landscaping likes best — mower lines laid down straight, the trimmer following the fence and the foundation plantings, the edge along the sidewalk cut so clean it looks drawn with a ruler. Newark yards are small and particular, hemmed by stone walls and old maples, and every one asks for a slightly different pass. The crew reads them that way, block by block, from the North Ward down through Roseville and out toward Belleville and Bloomfield. What they leave behind is simple and hard to fake: a lawn that looks cared for from the sidewalk, and stays that way until they come back.
