About R&L Custom Landscape and Tree Service

An ice storm out along Hartford Road, where the township thins toward the pines, coats every oak limb in glass and makes a sound in the dark like something slowly being unwrapped. R&L Custom Landscape and Tree Service is on the road while it is still happening — plowing driveways, cutting a path from door to car, spreading salt on the slick pitch where a driveway tips down to the street. Freezing rain is the harder half of a winter here, thinner than snow and twice as mean, and it repays anyone willing to go back out a second time. Morning comes up pink and hard-frozen over the treeline, and the driveways that got worked are simply usable. That is a small thing to hand a person on a bad morning, and it is not a small thing at all.
