Down on Creek Road the South Branch of the Rancocas moves brown and unhurried past the woods, and the year in Mount Laurel can be read straight off its banks. Diamond Lawncare, LLC keeps the same calendar: mowing and edging through the long humid green of June, trimming and hauling leaves when they come down along the creek in November, then plow and salt once the water starts carrying ice. A finished lawn wants a crisp line where turf meets walk — that edge is the signature, and it either exists or it doesn't. Winter asks for the opposite sort of patience, an hour before sunrise with a headlamp and a shovel and a driveway to hand back to somebody. Both jobs end the same way: a property that looks looked-after, and a household that never has to think about it.
