About Hoff Inc.

At three in the morning the trucks on 287 are the only thing moving, and by then the plows are already out. Hoff Inc. clears snow in Montville — driveways and parking areas pushed back, walkways shoveled down to pavement, salt across the approaches before the first headlights turn in. Winter here comes off the Highlands in bands, so a storm can drop three inches and then quietly add six more. That means going back, and going back again, until the surface is actually clear rather than nearly clear. There is pride in a lot that looks by daylight like it never snowed at all.
