About Native Property Maintenance

A nor'easter comes at Middletown Township sideways — wet down at the river, dry and drifting on the higher roads, never the same twice in one night. Native Property Maintenance runs snow: plowing driveways, clearing walks and steps, salting for the ice that follows the wind, and returning as long as the storm keeps adding to it. Along Navesink River Road the drives are long and the plow lines have to be learned one storm at a time. There is no applause in this work, only a car that backs out at six without a second thought. Handing a household back its morning is why the truck is out at three.
